As of 4:30 p.m. on October 4, 2008 the good ol' Mustang is gone forever. We thought it appropriate to have a moment of silence for this momentous occasion...
After purchasing the mini-van we had to make a decision as to which of the cars to keep and which to put on Craigslist. The obvious first answer was the Camry - after all it would bring in more money and since Justin only drives to the bus stop we figured he could use the 'Stang for another couple of years. After some serious thought we realized that the ol' girl may or may not even have a couple of years left and it would be nice for Justin to actually have a car that had air conditioning and wasn't in danger of leaving him stranded. Not to mention the fact that the Mustang is not automatic so I had never driven it farther than the end of the driveway (Justin's idea of trying to teach me how to drive a stick-shift ended rather abruptly when he spent more time laughing at my attempts than he did giving useful instruction. :). So in the end we determined that it was time to say goodbye to a part of the family.
After being posted for about twenty minutes on Craigslist this afternoon we had several inquiries which surprised us both. We realize that we live in the south and the Ford Mustang is probably one of the coolest cars you can own if you're a red-neck southerner, but this baby has some intestinal issues as well as some cosmetic flaws so we were prepared to wait a few days. It turns out the second caller decided he had to come see the car today. Despite her flaws the gentleman was wooed by the 'Stang and paid cash to make the deal official. We couldn't believe it happened so fast! Justin has expressed (in unspoken words, of course) the heartache of separating from the car he's driven for the past 8+ years and that was driven by his siblings before him, but I've reassured him that it was better to part now before she broke his heart and left him in the middle of nowhere (again...).
So goodbye, old friend! We'll always have the memories!

All I have to say is that was the greatest college car EVER!! Yes, it's rear wheel drive and there is a lot of snow in Utah....but still, LOVED THAT CAR!! It goes down in history, along with the Pony, as one of the great Wilde children cars!!
That car has impacted all of our lives in an unforgettable way. It will be missed.
I am sentimental about alot of things, namely...my kids, sometimes even my kids clothes, and maybe even a house or two but never a car! Maybe because the newer, cleaner, safer, or bigger car is more appealing? Good choice - the Camry is still a keeper!
ahhhh...to the 'Stang: We Salute You.
I'm sure Robb and Justin's trips from Rexy to Provo going 100 mph while singing Chicago had no affect on any internal problems....right?
