Jackson Wilde (a.k.a. Lance Armstrong)

One of Jack's goals this summer was to learn to ride his bike without training wheels. I set out to help him with this goal one afternoon a few weeks ago to no avail. I removed and threw away the training wheels (because we weren't going back once we got them off!) and then held onto the handlebars while Jack peddled, tried to have him just coast, held onto the seat, you name it! I even came in an googled ways to teach him how to ride a bike and all it did was leave us both sweaty and frustrated.

Not even a week later after a camping trip Justin took Jackson out front with his bike and LITERALLY 30 minutes later had him riding his bike with NO assistance! Apparently Daddy has the magic touch and everything just clicked for Jack. The first afternoon he was able to ride independently once Justin got him started. The second afternoon he was able to start by himself with no problems and has since just gotten nothing but faster and stronger! It was so amazing to watch him progress so quickly! If there is anything he still needs to practice a little it's turning right, lol. He comes zooming down the cul-de-sac and does the big swoop, but it's almost always to the left... (He's not quite a fluid ambi-turner, yet. :)

Jackson turning left with determination. :)

Justin's "secret" method was to hold onto Jack's neck/shoulders instead of the handlebars or the seat like I had tried.

why is it easier for the dads? i left the bike training up to patrick and it only took about 15 minutes with each one (k and b so far). it's so fun to be able to go on bike rides as a family now!
